FORT SMITH -- A fire outside the Southbrooke Apartments on Thursday caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the property, according to Fire Chief Boyd Waters.

Waters said eight fire department vehicles and 24 personnel responded to the fire, located at 8201 U.S. 271 and were on the scene for about an hour and a half.

"The cause was deemed as undetermined/accidental," he said. "The fire started outside but there was no evidence which led to a determination."

Waters said no injuries were reported.
