FORT SMITH -- Police are still gathering information about a vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred near Cook Elementary School on Thursday.
The incident reportedly took place at one of the school's intersections, Bryn Mawr Circle and Brooken Hill Drive, around 3:30 p.m.
Aric Mitchell, a Police Department spokesman, said students were using a crosswalk when the collision occurred. He said initial reports showed two students were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but a release from the school stated only one student was injured.
Mitchell said the motorist immediately stopped their vehicle. He said the investigation is ongoing, and there is no information yet on whether any citations will be issued.
